Pet & Pawrent Guidelines for a Pawsitive Experience
Let’s work together to create a peaceful, furbulous environment where everypawdy can relax, connect, and enjoy. Thank you for your cooperation and care!
🐾 Pet Toilet Time
- Use the designated pet toilet areas. Stop by there first when you arrive before enjoying our grounds and facilities.
- Always pick up after your pet. Pet waste bins are provided to make it easy for you to dispose of any mess responsibly.
- If your pet isn’t toilet-trained, please have them wear a diaper.
🐾 Stay Close, Stay Safe
- Your pet should be leashed (unless in the designated off-leash area) and always accompanied by their human. It helps ensure everyone stays safe and happy.
🐾 Respect Pet-Friendly Zones
- For everyone’s comfort, only our outdoor areas are pet-friendly.
- Please keep your furry friends on the floor or in their stroller/carrier at all times — not on public furniture. We appreciate your understanding!
- Your pet is welcome to join you in our cafe (during the indicated hours) as long as they are in a carrier, bag or stroller.
🐾 Good Food, Good Mood
- You’re welcome to bring snacks, water and water bowls for your pet.
- We also provide water and bowls for your convenience.
- Outside food for humans is not allowed. Food & drinks are available on-site.
🐾 Dress to Impress
- Blessings are always a special occasion so feel free to dress your pets in their Sunday best!
- Pawrents should also dress comfy yet respectful as you’ll be amongst monks and nuns in a Buddhist temple.
- No tight-fitting, sleeveless, or revealing attire. Yes to below-the-knee trousers/skirts/dresses, loose tops, etc.
- You may wish to bring along a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen & insect repellant to protect yourself from the elements.
🐾 Creating a Calm Space for All
- To help everyone fully enjoy a blessed day out, please ensure your pet is comfortable around both humans and other pets.
- It’s helpful if they can follow basic commands like sit, stay and no.
🐾 Quiet Paws, Happy Furriends
- Please be mindful of noise and be considerate to other pets and pet parents.
- If your pet gets restless, take them for a little walk or break.
🐾 Healthy Woofs, Happy Hoomans
- For the well-being of all furriends, we recommend that your pet is up-to-date on vaccinations and is on a regular flea and tick prevention plan.
🐾 Gentle Reminders from Our Pet Marshalls
- To keep the space welcoming and clean for all, our pet marshalls may step in to ensure rules are followed.
- If necessary, a gentle penalty may apply, with all proceeds going to support our animal welfare initiatives:
- Penalties range between RM10 – RM50
- In rare cases, we may need to ask a pet and their owner to leave the premises
Animal Rescue Activities
Our founder, H.E. Tsem Rinpoche was known for his love of animals. When Rinpoche conceptualised of Kechara Forest Retreat, it was meant to be as much a sanctuary for animals as it was for people.
In particular, our Aviary provides a new lease of life for birds rescued from abuse, neglect and a life in captivity. Today, it is home to over 40 birds including Sulphur-crested White Cockatoos, Cockatiels, African Greys, and Budgies.
Do visit our Aviary and say hello to our feathered friends during your trip to Kechara Forest Retreat.
